Summary

To provide support to the Employee Relations team and SS&C business, ensuring that consistent standards are adopted across all elements of HR. Providing a timely and accurate support service to the Company, responding to enquiries on policy and employment legislation, supporting and guiding in matters such as disciplinary, grievances, performance management and absenteeism.

Main Responsibilities

Join our ER team on a 6 month FTC basis.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Responding to employee queries on HR policy and legislation. Provide advice on employment legislation and its practical application in relation to specific situations/tasks. Ensuring HR matters are handled fairly and consistently in line with legal and Company requirements.
  • Provide a high quality and timely support to the Employee Relations team and SS&C business, ensuring accurate and up to date management information as required by the Employee Relations team and line managers e.g. absence, recognition, turnover etc.
  • Respond to queries sent to a centralised Employee Relations mailbox and help line, analyse trends and suggest improvements to reduce number of queries
  • In conjunction with the Employee Relations team review and improve HR processes and documentation
  • Lead in ad hoc maternity leave meetings, carry out exit interviews where necessary
  • Review update and reissue the Employee Handbook and provide administrative support when required

Assist the Lead Employee Relations Specialists;

  • in building relations with client groups and where appropriate working with the line managers in relations to specific HR issues
  • to actively manage performance of employees in conjunction with managers
  • to review disciplinary and grievance cases, which may include preparation of letters and note-taking in meetings
  • to manage sickness issues in partnership with the business ensuring best practice obligations are met and offer guidance around Company sick pay policy and when to use discretion
  • in supporting managers with the probation process ensuring if probations are extended or failed it is for consistent and fair reasons
  • to manage flexible working requests and shared parental leave in line with SS&C policy

Ideal Candidate

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in Employee Relations is essential, able to demonstrate a confident knowledge of employment law and HR policy
  • Minimum CIPD level 3 qualified achieved (ideally level 5), with a keen desire to becoming fully qualified.
  • Experience within Financial Services/ FinTech/ Corporate environment beneficial
  • Experience of working in a fast paced environment together with a flexible approach and a commitment to completing tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage own workload efficiently and effectively, plan and prioritise appropriately and identify/ escalate high risk/ complex issues.
  • Additional European language skills an advantage.
