DST hosts its first Apprenticeship Fair

Apprenticeships are something we take seriously at DST, with more than 300 apprentices currently working at our sites. We’re always looking for new ways to engage and nurture all our team members, and 30th January saw us focus on our Apprentice cohort with our first ever internal Apprenticeship Fair hosted at DST House Basildon.

Our apprentices and internal presenters were joined by our external partner organisations BPP, CISI and Investment 2020. With the topic “How to get the most out of your Apprenticeship”, the fair saw current apprentices joined by UK Funds Chief Operation Officer Richard Barrett and Client Services Senior Director Matt Kemp, who spoke about the crucial role of apprentices within DST and the career paths available.

BPP, the CISI and Investment 2020 each presented on the external networking opportunities and support available through the DST Apprenticeship offering. Apprentices had the opportunity to ask questions and approach the organisations directly for more information, plus had the time to network with other apprentices and further develop these professional relationships.

Matt Kemp said the event was a great opportunity to share insight with apprentices, noting the presence of BPP and CISI helped to show the support and investment DST is putting in to help talented young people become DST’s stars of the future.

“I would encourage all new apprentices to attend these events and hear first-hand from both Richard and I and the support organisations. This shows the importance we place on our apprentice staff in helping make DST a success for clients and customers,” he said.

Those apprentices who attended the fair agreed it was informative and well-presented. As a business, we’re hoping to run similar apprenticeship events in the future to continue to build on the work we’re doing in the apprenticeships space.

Having BPP and CISI in the room with stakeholders from DST enabled us to provide a unified, joined up message regarding the support available to apprentices whilst on programme. There was a good turn out from some departments who are clearly bought into the apprenticeship programme and we feel all participants took away something from the event.”
